About Us

Shannon and Felicia

Welcome to maeree! We are so happy to share with you our collection of ethically-sourced jewelry, home and lifestyle accessories that merge contemporary design with artisan craftsmanship. Beyond adornment, maeree supports designers who embrace environmentally conscious sourcing and production as well as employment, training and education initiatives in an effort to empower global artisans in marginalized communities.

We founded maeree after many years of talking and dreaming about starting a business together. With a shared love of contemporary design and a desire to make a difference, we brought maeree to life as a means to work, to create and be inspired together.

We hope you love the collection as much as we do, and that you take a closer look 'behind the scenes' to know our artisan partners and designers. We think you’ll be inspired by their stories, just like we have been.

Psst. A lot of you have asked us where the name maeree (pronounced may-ree) comes from.  Maeree was our grandmother’s name. As kids, we spent summers in Tybee Island, Georgia with “Grandma at the Beach”, aka Maeree. Tybee was a long way from our home in Minnesota and we couldn’t have loved summers more, puttering around the salt water canals behind Grandma’s house, crabbing with lines we fashioned from kitchen string and sinkers, or spending hours at the beach searching for sand dollars.

Grandma at the Beach led the charge each summer, walking alongside us at the beach, helping us craft those crabbing lines, teaching us how to maneuver the row boat or where to sit on the dock to catch the most crab. She was super creative and turned her living room into a crafting space where we spent rainy summer afternoons creating all sorts of delight from magazines, paper, glitter and glue.

Naming the company Maeree is a nod to the qualities of independence, self-sufficiency and creativity we had the fortune to experience and discover in ourselves each summer with our Grandma at the Beach.
